I recently viewed the Ameritron factory tour.
In this web video, Mr. Hood held up an MRF150 transistor and stated, “It says M/A-COM, on it, but Motorola actually makes it.”
This is not correct.
M/A-COM in Torrance, California, makes the MRF150, as well as many other “MRF Industrial Avionics Transistors” previously made by Motorola.
M/A-COM purchased this product line – including all semiconductor die masks, and other materials and properties, and took over manufacturing of these transistors from Motorola in 2001. Motorola no longer makes these transistors, including the MRF150.
